Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club head coach Aboubakar Ouattara is backing the Black Galaxies to beat Nigeria and qualify to the upcoming CHAN competition.
He said this in a post-game presser after Hearts beat Berekum Chelsea 3-1 in the Ghana Premier League to bounce back from losing 1-0 to bitter rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the league’s biggest derby.
Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team that is made up of solely Ghana based players, take on Nigeria on Sunday, December 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium at 16:00 GMT in the first of a two legged qualifier.
The winner qualifies to compete in next year’s tournament that takes place in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania with Ghana aiming to make back to back appearances at the tournament and Ouattara is backing the Galaxies.
“When I was coming I told my wife prepare your passport we are going to Tanzania with the CHAN team to go and support because I believe in this team can qualify. It’s not the first time Ghana has played against Nigeria at a crucial moment and I believe…Ghana can qualify and go and bring the cup to revamp the (local football) system” Ouattara said.

Hearts of Oak rank fifth in the league standings at the time of writing. Scroll down to watch Aboubakar Ouattara interview.
