Dutch international wingback Jeremie Frimpong is excited to be in Ghana after arriving in the country for the Christmas holidays.
The Bayer Leverkusen player who is of Ghanaian descent, landed in Ghana’s capital, Accra on Sunday, December 22 with the Bundesliga on a winter break.
Frimpong was accompanied by family members who were received by vibrant jama songs and traditional “adowa” dance.
Speaking in an interview, the Bundesliga and German Cup winner described how it felt coming back to the land of his parents.
“Amazing to come to this welcoming atmosphere for the first time, amazing you know. This is my people so I am so happy to see everybody. I’m so happy to be in Ghana. I’ve always been connected to my Ghanaian roots. Both my parents are Ghanaian, I eat Ghanaian food, I speak the language. Obviously being here makes it extra special.”
