Ghana Basketball Federation Vice President (Administration) Alex Kukula has called for more basketball coaches to be trained well so they pass on the right knowledge to players who he described as very good athletically but lacking in technical areas of the sport.
He said this in his address during the Me Overcoming Me Girls Empowerment Camp press conference organized ahead of a two day all girls’ basketball camp to be held at the University of Ghana on December 14 and 15.
Ghanaian basketball coaches will also go through training sessions during the camp to sharpen their skills.
The event had University of Ghana Sports Directorate Head, Dr. Austin Luguterah, present as well as Greater Accra Basketball Association Chairman Ayitey Bulley, American Basketball coach Robert Swain, mental helath advocate Dr. Shelissa Thomas and New York Square representative Dan Isaacs.

“You see that they (most Ghanaian players) are not well coached; very good athletically but the end product is very very little. When we train the coaches, the coaches are with the kids everyday, so that when we get to do that a lot more, they will reach a lot more girls than the 100 girls we will see. So I think we should look into that very very well.”
