Unlike the penalty drama that defined many of the Round of 32 clashes in this weekend’s MTN FA Cup, Accra Hearts of Oak delivered an attacking masterclass, solidifying their reputation as one of the favourites to claim this season’s title under coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
The Phobians put on a dazzling performance, securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Home Stars at the Legon Stadium to advance to the Round of 16.

After a tightly contested first half, which saw both teams cautiously testing each other’s defences, Hearts of Oak shifted gears in the second half to assert their dominance.
The breakthrough came in the 53rd minute when Mawuli Wayo calmly slotted home a well-placed finish, igniting celebrations among the home fans.
With momentum firmly on their side, Hearts doubled their lead in the 65th minute. Enoch Asubonteng capitalized on a perfectly timed assist from Martin Karikari, finding the back of the net to make it 2-0.
The Phobians weren’t content with just two goals. In the 75th minute, they spectacularly added a third. Karikari turned provider once again, delivering a pinpoint cross that found Asamoah Boateng, who expertly finished to seal the victory.
The dominant performance highlighted Hearts of Oak’s attacking prowess and left little doubt about their ambitions this season.
With the win, the Phobians comfortably move on to the Round of 16, where they will look to continue their quest for MTN FA Cup glory.
