Veteran journalist and advocate for least financed sports in Ghana, Dennis Moore, has downplayed the impact of the change of name from Ministry of Youth and Sports to Ministry of Sports and Recreation would have on sports development in Ghana.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports while addressing a handful of issues affecting the improvement of sports in the country.
Ghana President John Mahama recently changed the Sports Ministry’s name to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation while naming Kofi Iddie Adams as the Designate Minister for the Ministry but Moore believes the change has no bearing on sports development. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“I think that the change of name has no effect, has no bearing on the improvement of sports in Ghana basically. All that Ghanaians are looking forward to is to make sure that sports thrives; actually the least financed sports thrives.”

“I am yet to see the embodiment of recreation, what actually goes into recreation and why the change (of name)? What is recreation? I’m still struggling to understand that term; it’s normal English. All we want to see is the promotion of sports in Ghana, period.”

Sports Minister Designate Kofi Adams is expected to be vetted in the coming days.
