Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club goal keeper Benjamin Asare has been named as the starting shot stopper in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad on Friday, March 21 at 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Asare was called to the Black Stars for the first time in his career when Black Stars head coach Otto Addo named his squad for 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
The veteran goal keeper has been an outstanding addition to Hearts of Oak in the 2024-2025 season having registered 12 clean sheets in 18 league outings for the fourth ranked Phobians in the standings.
Asare got the nod over Lawrence Ati Zigi and Joseph Wollacott after impressing in training sessions held at the host venue for the crucial qualifier.
The Black Stars go into the game under a ton of pressure after failing to qualify to the 2025 AFCON while failing to score a win in six qualification outings.

However, the Black Stars have fared better in the World Cup qualifiers and a win over Chad moves Ghana into first place in Group I.
