Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has taken a firm stand against what they describe as a malicious attempt to distort the truth surrounding the tragic murder of their devoted supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.

The controversy erupted following the circulation of a video on social media, featuring Prof. EK Wallace of Asempa FM, who is accused of spreading blatant lies, reckless fabrications, and distortions about the brutal and senseless killing.

The club condemned Wallace’s actions as a shameful and reprehensible affront to the memory of the deceased and an insult to those seeking justice.

At a time when the Ghana Police Service is diligently pursuing the perpetrators, Asante Kotoko SC labeled the journalist’s behavior as irresponsible journalism that undermines the fight against hooliganism in Ghanaian football.

Kotoko argue that by throwing baseless accusations into the public sphere, Wallace is not only interfering with ongoing police investigations but also emboldening the criminals responsible for the heinous act.

The club branded Wallace’s statements as reckless propaganda, designed to serve a hidden agenda at the expense of truth and justice.

Asante Kotoko SC has issued a 48-hour ultimatum, demanding that Wallace furnish the investigator in the case with a detailed report of the alleged research he claims to have conducted.

The club expressed confidence that he will comply with this legitimate demand, warning that failure to do so will compel them to exercise all their legal rights.

The statement, signed by Samuel Sarfo Duku, Esq., underscored the club’s unwavering commitment to seeking justice for Nana Pooley and eradicating violence and hooliganism from Ghanaian football.

Asante Kotoko SC has reported Wallace’s comments to the Inspector General of Police and vowed not to allow reckless individuals to obstruct the course of justice.
