Portia Nkrumah, crowned the overall best female athlete in this year’s Ashanti Regional Super Zonal Athletics competition, attributes her gold-winning success to the incredible support system around her and her unwavering determination.

From the start, she believed nothing could deter her from reaching for gold.

When i started this competition, i knew i could do this, i felt i could do this so when they started the competition.

She further acknowledged that her school played an instrumental role in her achievements; not only through its encouragement but also via the support of her coaches and headmaster.

Overall best female athlete, Portia Nkrumah of Edinaman Senior High

the school supported me, encouraged me, all my coaches encouraged me saying i could do this, the Headmaster also helped me and also encouraged the other athletes. He even came to the fields where we train to encourage us.

When asked about her role model, Portia mentioned Lovina Ewusi, an alumnus of Edinaman School, whose journey has greatly inspired her. Lovina Ewusi is a  track and field athlete who attends Western Texas College.
