Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President , Ben Nunoo Mensah, has officially announced that he will not contest in the upcoming GOC elections scheduled for April 2025.
In a press statement released earlier this morning, the 64-year-old businessman and long-serving sports administrator confirmed that he is moving on to pursue other endeavours.
Though this decision may disappoint many individuals and Federations, I trust they will also understand that there comes a time when one must move on; and for me, the time is now.”
“I believe that this is the right time to step aside so that others can continue our progress. And while it would be impossible to mention everyone by name, I ask for God’s blessings upon those who have contributed to our collective successes in various ways” he said.

Ben Nunoo Mensah was first elected GOC President in 2017 and served two consecutive terms. Prior to that, he held several key positions within Ghana’s sporting landscape, including:
- Treasurer of the Ghana Olympic Committee
- President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation
- Vice President of the Ghana Cricket Association
- Executive Board Member of the Weightlifting Federation of Africa (WFA)
