An Executive Board Member of the Ghana Hockey Federation, Isaac Graham, has stated that lack of funds was the main reason behind Ghana’s reduced representation at the 2025 Africa Cup for Club Hockey Championship.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports on the sidelines of Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams’, meeting with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Female Hockey Team after the latter won the aforementioned Africa Championship.
Winning this year’s continental hockey championship is the second title in a row for GRA Ladies and fifth African title overall but Isaac Graham stated that but for a lack of funds, Ghana should have had four representatives with two clubs in the male and female divisions respectively instead of two.
“Unfortunately we had four slots…it was purely lack of funding and the clubs could not raise the needed funds to travel to Ismailia (Egypt) for the competition.”

“As a federation, we are going to work with the various clubs and their institutions to ensure that at least, there is some support for funding that we will touch base with corporate Ghana to help the clubs so that in the next tournament, we will be able to participate fully.”
