Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has stated the reason for not announcing the budget for the Black Stars’ latest activities in the international window.
Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team played against Chad and Madagascar in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Group I.
The Black Stars beat Chad 5-0 and recorded a 3-0 win over Madagascar to put themselves in prime position to qualify to next year’s World Cup.
However, the budget of the team was not released contrary to what President John Mahama promised in his State of the Nation Address. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Addressing the issue in an interview with Asempa FM, the Sports Minister, indicated that revealing the budget would have been a distraction to the Black Stars preparations for the qualifiers.

“People were asking me to disclose the budget for the games, but I kept asking myself what the budget would do for the team ahead of the games? Sometimes, some situations, create distraction for the team, so we would weigh every situation before making a decision.”

Ghana leads Group I with 15 points from six games.
