Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has underscored the importance of securing points in every game, especially in the fiercely competitive Ghana Premier League. His remarks came after Kotoko edged past Holy Stars with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors are in fine form, currently leading the Ghana Premier League table with 42 points after 23 matches. They have recorded 12 wins, six draws, and five losses so far this season.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Ogum emphasized that even a single point can make a crucial difference, particularly in away fixtures. He also highlighted the vital role home fans play in pushing the team to victory.

I have been telling them(players) that in the Ghana Premier league especially away you will never value the essence of one point until you are at the verge of losing the three points.
So when we went to Samartex and got a point, we made them understand that they did well.
We went to young apostles ,even though we were very optimistic we were going to win them but then we couldn’t win and came back with a point .
If you look at the tight schedule and out of 9 points ,we have been able to get 5point and a win in the FA Cup, they have done well and we need to commend them.
Historically, teams that accumulate crucial points especially in away matches tend to stay in the hunt for the championship.

For instance, in the 2020/21 season, Kotoko’s arch-rivals Hearts of Oak clinched the title with 61 points, thanks to their ability to grind out results both at home and away.
Similarly, Kotoko’s own triumph in the 2021/22 campaign was built on resilience in tough away fixtures, where they managed to pick up vital points en route to the title.

With 11 games left in the season, Ogum’s side will need to maintain their momentum if they are to secure the league crown.
