President of Ghana Athletics, Bawa Fuseini, has expressed confidence that the inclusion of the Ghana Education Service (GES) on the National Sports Authority (NSA) Board will significantly enhance collaboration between the NSA and the Ministry of  Sports and recreation in achieving the Minister’s goal of elevating school sports to the international stage.

During his recent vetting, the newly appointed Sports and recreation Minister, Hon. Kofi Adams, outlined his vision to rejuvenate sports in Ghana, emphasizing the promotion of school sports as a key pillar in gaining international recognition.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Bawa Fuseini acknowledged the challenges surrounding the school sports space, describing it as “slippery grounds.”

However, he remains optimistic that the NSA can successfully align with the various sports federations and the Ministry to push the agenda of internationalizing school sports programs with the right coordination.

Fortunately the Ghana Education Service is part of the national sports authority board and the NSA Boss works under the ministry of sports and recreation ,that makes his work much easier for collaboration between the national sports authority ,the GES under the direct policy from the ministry .

It’s a slippery grounds, but I know the NSA Boss can maneuver his way to get the school sports going ,to get the federations to also support the schools sports .

The ministry would definitely support the school sports.

What I always advocate is that the Ghana Education Service have the people, they have the student ,they have the PE masters but they don’t have the requisite knowledge or equipment to make their program an international program .

The only people that can support their program to become international program is the federation under the national sports authority.

The National Sports Authority has been engaging with various sports federations in a bid to unify efforts towards achieving a common national sporting agenda.
