On Tuesday, representatives from the Ghana Football Association, including President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, visited the triumphant National U15 squad at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) to celebrate their return from the 2025 Mondialito Promise Tournament, where they emerged as champions. The young athletes secured the title with a commanding 4-1 win against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the championship match.
The team’s journey to victory began with a convincing 4-1 defeat of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s U15 side in their opening match. They followed this with an emphatic 8-0 thrashing of Maccabi Bnei Eilat, establishing their dominance early in the tournament.
Maintaining their momentum, they outclassed Maccabi Petah Tikva 2-0 and then overwhelmed Hapoel Tel Aviv 4-0, securing their place in the final.
In the title-deciding rematch against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Coach Yaw Preko’s players showcased their prowess once again, sealing a 4-1 victory to hoist the trophy.
During the visit, President Simeon-Okraku joined the celebrations, posing for a photograph with the squad to commemorate their achievement which he posted on his face book page commenting
“I congratulated the players and the technical team, led by Coach Yaw Preko, on the feat chalked, and encouraged them to remain disciplined and committed in their pursuit of excellence.”
“The Football Association remains dedicated to creating opportunities for our youth teams to gain valuable international experience and compete against high-level opposition.” he added
The Ghana Football Association also reaffirmed its commitment to fostering the team’s development by scheduling additional matches, paving the way for a smooth transition into Ghana’s other national teams.
