Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the West African Football Union B (WAFU B) and the Ghana Football Association, attended the official launch of Togo’s National Technical Football Centre in Lomé on a special one-day visit. The invitation came from Guy Kossi Akpovy, President of the Togolese Football Federation, welcoming him to the neighboring country for the occasion.
The event marked the foundation laying of a groundbreaking of a facility set to serve as a key center for nurturing football talent and enhancing technical expertise across Togo and the West African region. Designed to elevate youth development, coaching, and training standards, the centre is expected to bolster the region’s influence in global football.
During the ceremony, Mr. Okraku delivered an address, commending the Togolese Football Federation for its visionary leadership and commitment to advancing both grassroot and top football. He praised the project, calling it “a significant and positive advancement” for the sport’s future in West Africa.
Reaffirming his role as WAFU Zone B leader, Mr. Okraku pledged continued support for initiatives that prioritize youth, infrastructure, and long-term growth saying “I am fully dedicated to providing guidance and backing for projects that strengthen West African football”
The launch of the National Technical Centre represents a milestone in Togo’s efforts to build a lasting football legacy, with effects anticipated across the continent.
