The Ghana Swimming Association has announced the lineup for Team Ghana at the 16th Africa Junior Swimming Championships, set to take place at the Cairo International Stadium from April 30 to May 3, 2025.
The team, led by coach Kenneth Ankrah, features a blend of local talent and diaspora swimmers, showcasing Ghana’s growing presence in international aquatics.
The squad includes eight swimmers competing across various events.

Oduma Agyei will participate in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, and 100m Butterfly, while Yemen Bozuma Cornie is set to dominate in the 800m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, and 200m Breaststroke.


Johnson Gyarko will take on the 50m, 100m, and 200m Breaststroke events, and Jada Yankey, one of the diaspora swimmers, will compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m Freestyle, as well as the 50m and 200m Breaststroke, and the 400m Individual Medley (IM).
Tamba Akin Boamah, hailing from Canada, will swim in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Freestyle, 50m and 100m Breaststroke, and 200m IM.
Jacob Kaleem, representing Washington, USA, will compete in the 50m and 100m Butterfly, 50m, 100m, and 200m Freestyle.
Michael Crabbe-Mann is slated for the 200m IM, 50m and 100m Butterfly, and 50m and 100m Backstroke, while Rihana Yankey will participate in the 200m Medley, 50m, 100m, and 400m Freestyle, 50m and 100m Butterfly, 50m and 100m Breaststroke, and 200m IM.
The team’s composition reflects Ghana’s efforts to tap into its global talent pool.
Jada Yankey and Rihana Yankey, both from the UK, along with Jacob Kaleem from the USA and Tamba Akin Boamah from Canada, will join the squad directly in Egypt.
The rest of the team, including the locally based swimmers, will depart from Kotoka International Airport in Accra to represent Ghana on the continental stage.
The 16th Africa Junior Swimming Championships will bring together young talent from across the continent, offering Team Ghana an opportunity to compete against the best and continue building on the country’s aquatics legacy.
