Ghana forward Inaki Williams has praised former Athletic Bilbao head coach, Marcelino, in the lead up to Bilbao’s crucial clash against Manchester United in the Europa League.
Athletic take on Man United in Spain later tonight at 19:00 GMT in the semifinals first leg; this year’s Europa League final will take place at Bilbao’s San Memes home venue.
30 year old Williams has 11 goals and nine assists in 46 games in all competitions this season and helped Bilbao win its first major trophy in 40 years by scooping up last season’s Copa Del Rey title and the Black Stars player has singled out Marcelino for his role in making him a better player.
“The click came with Marcelino. He filled me with confidence. We worked on controls, positioning, finishing. He brought a psychologist.”

“Only the greatest forwards score every chance, but managing that anxiety within a game was hard. Marcelino said: ‘Your target is to score one of every three chances. If you miss the other two, no problem” Williams said in an interview with Sid Lowe.

Bilbao will count on Williams to lead the line in its attempt to play the Europa League final in front of their fans and win the title.
