Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has stated that outstanding payments to some national football team coaches have been cleared.
He made this revelation during a meeting with the leadership of the University of Development Studies at the Sports Ministry ahead of the University’s trip to the World University Football Cup in China in September.
In his address to the educational institution’s leadership, Kofi Adams made it known that debts accrued over a four year period to coaches have been cleared including those owed to Ghana National Men’s Football Team head coach, C.K. Akonnor.
“Things are not the way they seem out there; quite a lot of debt have been left on us but just last week we had to pay some of our coaches, some almost four years old debt like the C.K. Akonnor’s and the rest who were all owed…so that when you are even bringing new persons, they will be assured that the nation will treat them right so we’ve been able to settle that and so we are looking into the way forward.”

Former Black Stars captain Akonnor served as Ghana head coach from 2020 to 2021.
