Kumasi Asante Kotoko celebrate after winning 2025 FA Cup title

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have emerged winners of the MTN FA Cup for the 10th time in the history of the competition.

The Porcupine Warriors won the first ever FA Cup title (then known as the Aspro Cup in 1958) and claimed its latest title in the competition thanks to a 2-1 win over Golden Kick FC.

Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku scored twice in the win at the University of Ghana Stadium with his first coming off a header in the 17th minute before tucking away a penalty in confident fashion in the 89th minute.

Opoku’s brace sandwiched a brilliant strike from Bless Ege of Golden Kick in the 33rd minute but Opoku’s second goal wasn’t without major controversy as a very contentious penalty call was made.

The call prompted strong reactions from Access Bank Division One outfit Golden Kick and even threatened to boycott the game.

Kotoko held on for the win that secures their spot in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup; Kotoko interim head coach Abdul-Karim Zito secured his second FA Cup title win.
