It is official; Uzbekistan have qualified to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup that will be held in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.
Uzbekistan became the first country from Central Asia to qualify to the World Cup after drawing goalless with the United Arab Emirates.
The draw was enough to book Uzbekistan’s place in the upcoming World Cup that will have 48 countries compete for the first time in the history of the competition.
On their return to Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, each member of the team including coaches and players (40 persons in all) was gifted with a sleek car from popular Chinese brand BYD.
President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has signed a decree to confer honorary titles and medals to members of the team.

Uzbekistan is one of six Asian countries to have secured their place at the next World Cup; Australia, Japan, South Korea, Jordan and Iran have qualified.
