No player from Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, made it to the Best XI following the conclusion of the group stage at the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON.
Ahead of the commencement of the knockout stages in this year’s competition, Africa’s governing body, CAF selected the standout players from the group stage.
Despite making it to the quarterfinals of the continental championship for the first time since 2016 and clinching a 4-1 win over Tanzania, no Black Queens player made it to the Best XI.
Ghana take on Algeria in the quarterfinals on Saturday, July 19 at 16:00 GMT with the winner taking on the winner of the Morocco-Mali matchup in the semifinals. Ghana drew 1-1 with Mali at the group stage.
Jennifer Cudjoe and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah won the Woman of the Match Award in two of Ghana’s three games at the group stage.

South Africa and Zambia lead the way in terms of selection to the Best XI with each nation bagging three selections while Nigeria had two selections.

Strikers Barbra Banda, Rachel Kundananji and defender Lushomo Mweemba made the cut for Zambia while Jane Refiloe, Fikile Magama and Bambanani Mbane represent South Africa in the elite team.
