Black Queens midfielder Stella Nyamekye has praised the veteran leadership in the team stating that it has helped young players like herself and Comfort Yeboah in the team a lot.
Nyamekye named veteran players like Portia Boakye, Alice Kusi, Jennifer Cudjoe and Grace Asantewaa as players who have guided the team’s youngsters through Ghana’s campaign in the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON in Morocco.
The former Under 17 and Under 20 star player made these comments in a pre-game interview ahead of Ghana’s bronze medal game against South Africa on Friday, July 25 at 19:00 GMT.
The Black Queens missed the opportunity to compete in the AFCON final game for the first time since 2006 after losing to Morocco 4-2 on penalties in the semifinals and Nyamekye said the team is ready for the game and added that

“We are still learning and growing as well. From the Under 17 youth level to the Black Queens, I think there is a lot of difference between and I think the senior players especially Portia, Alice Kusi, Jennifer Cudjoe, Grace Asantewaa they are helping us a lot. They have been with us on and off the field so we are really grateful and happy with that.”
