Member of Parliament for Akuapem South Constituency and a Member of Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committee for Sports, Lawrencia Dziwornu, has lofty expectations for Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens.

The lawmaker expects the Black Queens to win the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON; winning in Morocco would be the first triumph for Ghana in the continental championship.

She relayed this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports as the Black Queens take on host nation Morocco in the semifinals on Tuesday, July 22 at 19:00 GMT.

Featuring in the semifinals for the first time since 2016 after beating Algeria 4-2 on penalties in the quarterfinals, Ghana is on the brink of winning it all just as the Akuapem South MP envisages.

“We are all expecting that trophy to be lifted by them at this tournament and not like how we have experienced the last time when they reached the semifinals but were unable to lift it so we are solidly behind them. They should go and bring the trophy home.”
