Ghana Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has handed a Ghanaian passport to Manchester City Belgian winger Jeremy Baffour Doku.

The Man City player who is of Ghanaian descent officially had his connection to the West African nation recognized as he received the diplomatic document from the Minister while on his trip to Ghana.

The Belgium-born Doku is on holidays in Ghana after completing his second season at Man City and recently played with the club at the FIFA Club World Cup held in the United States of America.

Receiving his Ghanaian passport is the latest in a line of activities that have highlighted his trip to Ghana as the former Stade Rennes player has visited the Cape Coast Slave Castle and the Manhyia Palace where he got blessed by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Writing on his X (formerly Twitter) page after handing the Ghana passport to Jeremy Doku, Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Ablakwa wrote,

“This was the wish of Jeremy and his family when they called on me…As a dual citizen he is legally entitled to a Ghanaian passport. The significant development confirms Jeremy Baffour Doku’s commitment to fully reconnect with Ghana despite playing for Belgium.”
