2024 CAF Women’s AFCON: Ghana team was physical- Morocco Head Coach after win

Morocco National Women’s Football Team head coach Jorge Vilda has stated that the Ghana team was physical in its semifinal game at this year’s AFCON.

Morocco beat Ghana 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 at the end of regulation time and extra time. Ghana took the lead in the first half through Stella Nyamekye but Morocco’s Sakina Ouzraoui Diki equalized in the second half.

Speaking after the game, Ghana midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe described the loss as one that hurts while Vilda congratulated Ouzraoui for winning the Woman of the Match Award and added that, (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“She [Ouzraoui] played a crucial role in our win over Ghana and the victory was very well fought for. The Ghanaian team were physical but we played collectively and eventually won. We worked hard to make it to the final” according to CAF.

Morocco will play Nigeria in the final game on Saturday, July 26 at 20:00 GMT. This is Morocco’s second straight Women’s AFCON finals appearance after losing to South Africa in the 2022 edition.
