Former Ghana National Women’s Football Team head coach Nora Hauptle’s debut run in the CAF Women’s AFCON ended in a humiliating fashion as her Zambian team got thrashed by Nigeria.
Hauptle coached Ghana’s Black Queens for two and a half years before taking over the Zambian head coaching job after a contract dispute with the Ghana Football Association.
Pre-tournament favourites Zambia lost 5-0 to Nigeria in the quarterfinals of the ongoing tournament in Morocco with the Super Falcons.
Nigeria take on the winner of South Africa’s matchup against Senegal in the semifinal; South Africa v Senegal takes place on Saturday, July 19 at 19:00 GMT.
A brilliant performance in the first half had Nigeria take a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Osinachi Ohale in the second minute, Esther Okoronkwo in the 33rd minute and Chinwendu Ihezuo in the 45th minute.

Oluwatosin Demehin and Florence Ijamilusi added goals in the 68th minute and in added on time to mark a dominant display that rendered what was a matchup of heavy hitters practically a one side affair.

Nigeria are the record winners of the Women’s AFCON having won the title nine times and are on track to win a record extending 10th title.
