The Absa Black Star Marathon team paid a courtesy call on Samson Deen, President of the African Paralympic Committee (APC), at his office in Accra on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
The delegation, led by Dr. Eric Kwame Adae, founder of the marathon, visited Samson Deen to provide updates on preparations for the much-anticipated event, scheduled for July 26, 2025.
Dr. Adade and his team delivered a detailed briefing covering key aspects of the marathon, including logistics, promotional strategies, and expected turnout.

Notably, he revealed that around 60 para-athletes, both male and female, have already registered—a milestone that highlights the event’s inclusive outlook.

The engagement served as a strategic platform to discuss potential areas of collaboration and to reinforce a shared vision of using sport as a tool for unity, empowerment, and inclusion.
A highlight of the visit was the formal invitation extended to Samson Deen to attend the event.

Recognised across the continent for his advocacy for disability inclusion, Mr. Deen’s anticipated presence is expected to lend strong credibility to the event and serve as a source of inspiration to both able-bodied and para-athletes.
“Inclusion is not charity—it is justice. When every athlete, regardless of ability, is given a lane to run, the finish line becomes a victory for humanity. I will always stand where every voice is heard, and every dream has a chance to race,” said Mr. Deen.
The Absa Black Star Marathon continues to grow in stature, uniting athletes across diverse backgrounds while promoting wellness and community spirit.
The visit to the APC President underscores the organisers’ commitment to inclusive participation and stakeholder engagement.
With just days to go, preparations are in high gear to deliver a memorable event that will add another proud chapter to Ghana’s sporting legacy.
