Ghana Black Queens players Grace Asantewaa and Portia Boakye have been named in the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON Best XI.
The pair delivered a standout performance in the recently ended competition that had Ghana finish third to clinch the bronze medal.
The third place finish is Ghana’s best performance in the continental championship since 2016 where Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team also finished third.
Ghana skipper Portia Boakye manned the backline brilliantly while Asantewaa drew rave reviews for her elite level of composure and vision in bossing the Ghana midfield.
After delivering a stunning comeback to beat host nation Morocco 3-2 to win the AFCON title for the 10th time, Nigeria’s Super Falcons had the most players named in the team.
The Queens arrived in Ghana on Monday, July 28 where they were met by dignitaries including Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku and Chief Director at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Wilhelmina Asamoah.
