Ghanaian midfielder Francis Abu has completed a permanent move to French Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse FC, signing a four-year contract.

The 23-year-old joins from Belgian side Cercle Brugge, where he made over 60 league appearances, scoring once and providing seven assists during his time at the club.

Abu arrived in France on Sunday night to undergo his medical before finalising the move.

He was on the radar of several European clubs, including Turkish giants Basaksehir FK and Trabzonspor, as well as English side Burnley and Italian clubs Torino and Genoa. However, Toulouse ultimately secured his signature.

“I’m very happy to be here,” Abu said in his first interview with the club’s media. “I can’t wait to start this new challenge and join this wonderful family. I’m also looking forward to discovering the Pink City and meeting all the incredible supporters.”

A graduate of Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy, Abu began his professional career with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland before making the switch to Belgium.

He has also featured for the Ghana national team, earning five caps since making his senior debut for the Black Stars in March 2024.
