Manchester United are reportedly open to selling Rasmus Højlund for £30 million just two years after signing him for £72m from Atalanta.

The Danish striker scored twice in United’s friendly win over Bournemouth in Chicago, and publicly stated he wants to stay at Old Trafford. But with the club actively pursuing RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško, Højlund’s future appears far from secure.

Newcastle are also interested in Šeško, but United remain in the race, and reports suggest the Slovenian would prefer a move to Manchester.

Still, any deal would likely require outgoings to keep United within Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

If Šeško does arrive, Højlund; who scored just four league goals last season would likely be pushed to the fringes. Selling him now would represent a financial loss, as he still holds a £43m book value under his current contract.

United have already splashed close to £130m this summer on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, neither of whom are traditional No. 9s. Despite a glaring lack of goals last season, the club has yet to secure a clear leading striker.
