Ghana’s Police Ladies FC, reigning champions of the 2024/25 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, will fly the nation’s flag at the upcoming 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zone B Qualifiers in Côte d’Ivoire.

The tournament, now scheduled for August 23 to September 4, 2025 in Yamoussoukro, will bring together eight national champions from across West Africa, with only the winner booking a ticket to the continental showpiece.

Police Ladies have been drawn in Group B, alongside Nigerian giants Bayelsa Queens FC, Togolese champions Association Sportive de La Kozah (ASKO), and Benin’s emerging force Sam Nelly. This marks their first-ever appearance at the WAFU B qualifiers, a reward for their maiden league triumph.

The team will be led by veteran tactician Yussif Basigi, appointed after regular head coach. Basigi, who boasts vast experience in women’s football, is expected to blend the side’s youthful energy with the guidance of seasoned campaigners.

With Hasaacas Ladies FC setting the standard in 2021 by reaching the CAF Women’s Champions League final, Police Ladies are determined to script their own history. But standing in their way are experienced sides like Bayelsa Queens, who have proven themselves on the continental stage.

The Ghanaian champions will rely on their tactical discipline, attacking flair, and the momentum from a dominant domestic campaign.

Victory in Côte d’Ivoire would not only secure a place at Africa’s top women’s club competition but also cement their status among the elite of West African women’s football.
