Liverpool and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah leads a trio of African players nominated for the 2025 Ballon D’Or Award with the list of nominated players announced earlier on Thursday, August 7.

Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi and Guinea and Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy have been nominated alongside Salah.

Hakimi excelled in PSG’s brilliant 2024-2025 campaign that had him win the UEFA Champions League, French Ligue 1 and French Cup titles.

Salah on the other hand, starred in Liverpool’s English Premier League title win under first year head coach Arne Slot. Salah led the league in goals scored and assists along the way.
