Ghana midfielder and former Arsenal player Thomas Partey has been officially announced as a player of Spanish La Liga side Villarreal CF.

The under fire player was reported to have completed a medical and signed a two year deal with the Yellow Submarine as a free agent following his well-publicized departure from Arsenal.

Villarreal announced Partey’s signing officially on Thursday, August 7 and added in a statement that he will join his new teammates for training on Friday, August 9.

The announcement officially marks Partey’s return to the La Liga after starring in the league for Atletico Madrid prior to his move to English Premier League side Arsenal.

Villarreal stated in the release that, Partey “is an excellent ball winner and has the ability to start moves from deep. The African footballer also boasts a good shot from mid-range and has the ability to break the lines when driving forward.”

Villarreal CF and @ThomasPartey22 have reached an agreement for the Ghanaian footballer to join the Yellows ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Partey is embroiled in a legal battle in England over five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault involving one woman. Villarreal noted that they were aware of Partey’s legal situation.

He appeared before a Westminster Court on August 5 where he was granted conditional bail that allows him to continue his football career while the case still persists.
