It is official; Thomas Partey is a player for Spanish La Liga side Villarreal CF after leaving English Premier League side Arsenal as a free agent.
Partey’s five year run with the Gunners came to an end following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season and has reportedly signed a two year deal with the Yellow Submarine.
The club officially made the announcement via a post on their X (formerly Twitter) page and added that Partey will train with his new teammates on Friday, August 8.
At the time of the announcement, deputy Black Stars captain Partey, is battling a legal case involving three women on five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
He has maintained his innocence throughout the process via his legal team and made his first appearance at a Westminster Court on August 5 where he was granted conditional bail that allows him to continue playing football while the case continues.

Partey is expected to return to court at the Old Bailey on September 2 and as part of the bail conditions, the former Atletico Madrid player isn’t allowed to contact any of the women named in the case.

His signing has prompted a Villarreal supporters group to register their concerns in connection to the legal case. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
