Dominik Szoboszlai struck a sensational free-kick to hand Liverpool a 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Anfield, sending the reigning champions to the top of the Premier League table.
Arsenal shaded a first half that lacked clear chances, but Arne Slot’s men raised the tempo after the break and were rewarded through the tireless Hungarian, who impressed despite being deployed out of position at right-back.
The result means Liverpool remain the only side with a perfect record this season, leapfrogging Chelsea at the summit, while Mikel Arteta’s team saw their unbeaten run come to an end, their first defeat against a fellow ‘big six’ side in 23 matches.

The Gunners were dealt early blows, already missing Bukayo Saka and then losing William Saliba to injury, but still produced a composed opening half.

Noni Madueke was their brightest spark, troubling Milos Kerkez and forcing the only save before half-time, while Viktor Gyokeres struggled to impose himself.
With Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, and Florian Wirtz kept quiet for Liverpool, and Arsenal’s second-half substitutes Martin Ødegaard and debutant Eberechi Eze unable to turn the tide, the decisive moment belonged to Szoboszlai.
Not only did he keep Gabriel Martinelli quiet defensively, but when his chance came at the other end, he delivered — curling home a brilliant free-kick to seal three priceless points for the champions.
