The Eagles of Mali wasted little time dispatching Comoros ahead of its crucial game against Ghana on Monday, September 8 at the Accra Stadium at 19:00 GMT.

Mali beat Comoros 3-0 in its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier with goals coming from Nene Dorgeles in the 28th minute, Kamory Doumbia in the 70th minute and Lassana Coulibaly in the 76th minute.

The big win pushes Mali into third place tied with Comoros on 12 points but ahead of the island nation on goal difference. Mali trail second ranked Madagascar by a point after Madagascar scored a 2-0 win over Central African Republic.

Mali is aiming to reinvigorate its qualification chances under recently appointed head coach Tom Saintfiet who replaced Eric Chelle. Eric Chelle has since been appointed as head coach of Nigeria.

Ghana leads Group I with 16 points after drawing 1-1 shockingly with bottom ranked Chad and the Black Stars would be aiming to repeat its win over Mali on Monday; Ghana beat Mali 2-1 in Bamako.
