Hohoe United Football Club head coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru says playing against Accra Hearts of Oak is something that is special considering his history with the Phobian Club.
Bashiru served as an assistant head coach and as interim head coach for the Phobians before his exit and eventually taking up the Hohoe United head coaching job. Bashiru spent the 2024-2025 season coaching Young Apostles FC.
Hohoe United take on Hearts of Oak at the University of Ghana Stadium in the 2025-2026 Ghana Premier League season opener at 19:00 GMT today and going to back to the club he served multiple years got Bashiru to state that,
“It is a good feeling [to go back] because Hearts of Oak, I always say I didn’t finish my work with Hearts…so going into this game means a lot to me and also to my Hohoe people as well so definitely we are going all out [against Hearts on Friday]” he said in a pre-game interview with the club’s media.

Hohoe United won the Access Bank Division One Zone Three to qualify to the GPL.
