Bayern Munich Honourary President Uli Hoeness has slammed journalists for misinterpreting his words made about Nicolas Jackson’s move to the German side.

Hoeness was quoted in an interview stating that Jackson’s loan move from Chelsea to Bayern Munich won’t be made permanent because the Senegal striker won’t make 40 starts to trigger the clause to make the move permanent. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

His statement coupled with his sharp criticism of Newcastle United and the Magpies’ new striker Nick Woltemade drew a ton of criticism but Hoeness has responded stating that his words about Jackson were misinterpreted.

“What annoyed me a lot is the stupidity of some journalists. They interpreted my words as if I had something against Jackson. These [journalists] didn’t pay attention in maths because I said he won’t play 40 games from the start.”

“We still have 32 Bundesliga games. If we reach the Champions League final, which we hope we will, that adds 13 games. The total is 45 games.”

“The DFB Pokal games does not count. He will go to the African Cup in January so he can’t start 40 games, that’s what I said” Hoeness stated according to Sky Sports German.

Jackson is set to feature in his first Bayern Munich game when the Bavarian giants take on Hamburg on Saturday, September 13. Jackson scored in Senegal’s 3-2 comeback win over DR Congo in Kinshasa in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
