Sprint legend Usain Bolt says there are no words to describe how great fellow Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is as the latter heads into retirement.
Fraser-Pryce run her final race as a professional sprinter when she won silver with Jamaica’s Women’s 4X100 Relay Team at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Jamaica finished second behind the United States of America to add to Fraser-Pryce’s illustrious career that includes five gold medals at the World Championships. She described the silver medal win as “icing on the cake” and Bolt believes she is greatness personified.
“There are no words to explain how great Shelly-Ann is. She’s a legend in my book, she has proven again and again that she is one of the best in the world.”

“She left, had a kid, came back to the sport and still dominated. I’m happy to know and to see this greatness” Bolt said in an interview with the BBC.

At this year’s World Championships, American sprinter Melissa Jefferson-Wooden matched Fraser-Pryce’s mark as a gold medal winner in the Women’s 100 and 200 Metre events.
