On the subject of government backed construction of astro turfs that was championed by the previous administration, the Minister questioned the quality of the pitches and added that the poor state of the surfaces have led to the Ministry halting the construction of further similar projects.
“For now, we’ve halted the astro truf projects; all of them. What government directly have an interest in that were being awarded from national level…we said no they should hold on it because we need to improve on [it].”

“What has been done, I will not allow my child to go and play ball on those things so why should I let it go ahead” the Sports Minister said.
