Sprint legend Usain Bolt is backing Jamaica duo Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville to triumph in the Men’s 100 Metre event at the 2025 World Athletics Championships.

This year’s World Championships runs from September 13 to September 21 in Tokyo, Japan and ahead of the competition, multiple time world champion Bolt believes Thompson and Seville can end up finishing first and second even in the face of a high quality field.

The Men’s 100 Metre field includes defending champion Noah Lyles, 200 Metre gold medal winner Letsile Tebogo and Ghana’s national record hold Abdul-Rasheed Saminu.

Saminu broke the Ghana record twice this year smashing Benjamin Azamati’s 9.90 second mark to 9.84 seconds which is among the world’s fastest times but world record holder Bolt is backing his countrymen for gold. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“Kishane and Oblique have really shown this season that they’re really doing extremely well. They should be 1-2 at least because they have proven throughout the season that they are at the top and they’re running fast times.”

“So it’s just all about execution. I’m happy to go to the stadium and see. Hopefully, I’ll be able to present the gold to one of them!” Bolt said while speaking at a Puma event.
