Chelsea FC head coach Enzo Maresca has bemoaned his team’s inability to see out a tough contest against Brentford to register a win.
Maresca’s Chelsea drew 2-2 with Brentford at the G-Tech Community Stadium with Cole Palmer returning from injury to score the Blues’ second goal in the 86th minute off the bench.
However, Chelsea conceded in the 93rd minute through a Fabio Carvalho finish; Kristoffer Ajer’s flick off a long throw-in fell to Carvalho at the far post who planted the ball home to deny Chelsea the win.
In his post-game interview as quoted by Chelsea media, the Italian coach wasn’t happy with his team for coughing up the game’s lead late.
“For sure in the moment that we scored the second goal we have to manage better.”

“We scored in the 86th minute and in that moment you need to give passes, you need to slow down, you need to send the game to sleep a little bit. It’s something that we didn’t do” Maresca said.

Chelsea play Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, September 17 at 19:00 GMT in Munich next.
