Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach Abdul Karim Zito has indicated that his team deserved to win its Ghana Premier League game against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

Kotoko beat Chelsea 1-0 thanks to an Albert Amoah strike in the 80th minute to secure the win in the 2025-2026 season opener.

Despite complaining about the lack of rest for his team after enduring a very busy off-season that had Kotoko playe in four preseason competitions, Karim Zito’s men dug deep to pull off a win the Kotoko trainer described as a fair win. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“At the end of the day, after a hard fought [win] football has done justice to Kotoko because when you look at the way we created a lot of chances, assuming we ended this game goalless, I don’t it’s fair so I’m very happy for my boys and it will also ginger us towards this week’s Confederation Cup that we are going to play” Zito said.
