Athletic Bilbao captain Inaki Williams will miss Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month due to a leg injury. Inaki was named as a member of the 24 man squad for Ghana.
The Black Stars are scheduled to take on Central African Republic (C.A.R) on Wednesday at 16:00 GMT and Comoros on Sunday, October 12 at 19:00 GMT.
According to Spanish media outlet El Chiringuito TV, Inaki Williams suffered a muscle-injury overload in the tensor of the fascia lata of his left leg.
Athletic Bilbao confirmed Inaki’s injury after the Black Stars player exited the team’s 2-1 win over Mallorca in the Spanish La Liga in the 53rd minute. Inaki scored in the win.
“The captain will not join up with the Ghana national team and will begin his recovery at the Lezama training ground. Further tests are pending” a section of the statement Athletic Bilbao released regarding Inaki Williams’ health status read.

Inaki Williams featured for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and could play in his second World Cup in 2026 with Ghana in pole position to qualify.
