Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has stated that the authority isn’t in conflict with Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, over the construction of the Nkawkaw Stadium.
Construction of the Nkawkaw Stadium, according to the NSA boss, had stalled without a specific reason as far as he is concerned.
The project, which commenced in September 2020 and was supposed to be funded by the Middle Belt Development Authority at a cost of 27 million Ghana Cedis, had stalled for several years. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
However, Dr. Acheampong, in a private capacity, funded work to commence at the abandoned facility earlier this year but the development was halted and in his briefing before the Public Accounts Committee, the NSA boss stated that there is no conflict with Dr. Acheampong.

“So the NSA met with Dr. Bryan Acheampong and requested for documentation that allowed him to do the work since there was no documentation. Since then, the NSA has met with the Omanhene of Kwahu and we’ve had discussions on the way forward.”

“There is no conflict or crisis, it’s about legality, it’s about the law, it is about having documentation that would safeguard Honourable Bryan Acheampong’s work or whoever wants to develop national assets.”

So hopefully, we will hear from the Omanhene and Mr. Bryan Acheampong and we will be able to have a discussion…to develop the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium” Yaw Ampofo Ankrah said.
