For the second time since the 1970 AFCON, Sudan have won a game for the second time in the competition’s history.

Sudan hosted the 1970 edition and won the title after beating Ghana and prior to the 2025 edition, Sudan’s other win after 1970 was in the 2012 edition that had the country make it to the quarterfinals.

However, Sudan bagged its second win after the 1970 AFCON thanks to a 1-0 win over Equatorial Guinea at the 2025 AFCON that is taking place in Morocco.

An own goal from Saul Coco in the 74th minute got Sudan the big win with Sudan forward Mohamed Eisa winning the Man of the Match Award.

After suffering a 3-0 loss to Algeria in the opening round of games at the tournament, Sudan delivered an improved performance against Equatorial Guinea to score the win.
