Accra Hearts of Oak assistant head coach Abdul Gazale says goalkeeper Benjamin Asare would only be added to the squad that plays against Aduana Stars FC if it is necessary to do so.
He said this in a pre-match interview with Hearts of Oak media ahead of the clash against Aduana on Sunday, December 21 at 15:00 GMT at Dormaa Ahenkro.
Aduana Stars lead the Ghana Premier League standings and have a three point advantage over fourth ranked Hearts ahead of the game.
Earlier this week, Asare returned to training after a month’s spell out due to an injury; in his absence, Solomon Agbasi started in his place in five games and kept four clean sheets and Agbasi believes the situation means Hearts would only play Asare when it is absolutely necessary.
“We are looking at how we are going to put our squad together… including Asare if it is necessary for the goalkeeper’s trainer to add Asare, then why not?”

“If the goalkeeper’s trainer sees that he-Benjamin Asare- needs more time…we have others who can easily do the job for us” Abdul Gazale said.

Asare’s brilliant form over the past two seasons has got him to become a regular starter in Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, and in line to play in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
