The issue was sorted out but Nigeria lost to the Democratic Republic of Congo in a penalty shootout to miss out on qualifying to this year’s World Cup.

At the ongoing 2025 AFCON, Eric Chelle’s team has qualified to the quarterfinals and is scheduled to take on Algeria on Saturday, January 10 at 16:00 GMT.

Nigeria have won all four games played thus far in the competition including registering a resounding 4-0 win over Mozambique in the round of 16 stage.
