Ahead of Nigeria’s National Men’s Football Team, the Super Eagles, crunch 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff qualifier against Gabon, Technical Director of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Augustine Eguavoen, has slammed the team’s decision to strike over unpaid bonuses.
Nigeria take on Gabon on Thursday, November 13 at 16:00 GMT in Morocco with the winner getting a step closer to qualify to next year’s World Cup.
However, the lead up to the game was rocked by the Super Eagles boycotting training over outstanding bonuses that got resolved on Wednesday, November 12 according to captain William Troost-Ekong.
In an interview with the NFF, former Super Eagles player and head coach Eguavoen, wasn’t happy with the actions of the players stating,
“The timing of the strike was wrong. They might have had their reasons, but the timing was not the best.”
