Cameroon midfielder Carlos Baleba believes circumstances surrounding his team’s loss to Morocco would have been different if Cameroon had been awarded a penalty in the second half.
The Indomitable Lions lost 2-0 to the Atlas Lions in the quarterfinals of the 2025 AFCON that is taking place in Morocco in a game where several quarters slammed the performance of referee Dahane Beida. Morocco have qualified to the semifinals and will take on the winner of the clash between Nigeria and Algeria.
Cameroon felt aggrieved that a foul on Bryan Mbeumo in the penalty box in the second half wasn’t given with many suggesting that Morocco the host nation, got favourable calls from the referee.
However, Morocco head coach Walid Regragui denied this notion but for Baleba, things could have been different if the penalty was given. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“I think that if the referee had been able to call the penalty, the match would have taken a different turn but he didn’t call it. If VAR couldn’t see it, we’re not going to blame ourselves for that because it’s a football match.”

“They won 2-0 on set pieces and we are eliminated. The group is disappointed” Baleba said to beIN Sports.
